Why i started Skullyz Apparel

My story

Why I Started Skullyz Apparel

For as long as I can remember, I've battled with depression and anxiety. It started in my early teens when my father was diagnosed with cancer. Watching his decline and being by his side when he passed in 2003 changed me in ways I didn't fully understand at the time.

For years, I struggled with my mental health, often feeling isolated and convinced that I was worthless. At my lowest points, I even considered suicide. But in 2024, I finally decided to fight back. I reached out for help and, in 2025, made a commitment not just to myself, but to others who are struggling to continue this journey while raising awareness so that people don't wait as long as I did to seek support.

Turning Pain Into Purpose

I created Skullyz Apparel as a way to start conversations about mental health in an open and honest way. Clothing is something we all interact with daily, and I believe that powerful messages whether through bold statements or subtle designs can make an impact. Even if someone doesn't say anything out loud, simply seeing a message on a hoodie or a decal on a car can plant a seed of awareness and remind someone that they are not alone.

Each design is inspired by real experiences, whether my own or those shared by others. My goal is to encourage people to talk, to reach out, and to know that it's okay to ask for help.

Why Winston's Wish?

I chose to support Winston's Wish because I know first hand how difficult it is to lose a parent at a young age. If I had access to the right support after my father passed, I might have learned how to cope in a healthier way instead of feeling so lost. Through Skullyz Apparel, I want to help provide that support for other grieving children so they don't have to face the same struggles alone.

If this brand can encourage even one person to open up, seek help, or feel seen, then it will all be worth it. And if one day, I spot someone wearing Skullyz Apparel out in public, knowing it's making a difference, I'll know I'm on the right path.

You are not alone. You are strong enough to fight this. And I hope Skullyz Apparel helps remind you of that.
